Molly’s Minute: Whatever Is In Our Cup Is What Will Spill Over

Imagine, for a minute, that you’re at your favorite coffeeshop. You’ve placed your order and you’re waiting for your coffee at the counter.
They call your name, so you walk up and take your cup. But as you turn around to walk away, someone bumps into you. And your coffee spills over the side of your cup and onto the floor.
Why did you spill the coffee?
Because the person bumped into you? Or because coffee was what was in your cup?
As we go through our daily lives, bumps are going to happen. Every day, we’re going to encounter some kind of problem or inconvenience. And how we react outwardly to that depends on what’s going on inside of us.
If we’re hanging onto things like anger and resentment, our reactions will be angry and resentful. But if we’re cultivating a spirit of peace, and joy, and forgiveness, that’s what will come out of us when we hit that bump.
Whatever is in our cup is what will spill over when we get bumped.
What will you fill your cup with today?
2 Corinthians 10:5 “…and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”
