The BRIGHT-FM Semester in Media Internship Program exists to provide hands-on experience and personal spiritual growth within the world of media.
Participants currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program will have the opportunity to gain practical knowledge about the many facets of media.

BRIGHT-FM is seeking an intern with a knowledge and interest in graphic design. The intern hired for this position will need to have organizational skills, time management skills, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
Intern must be able to carry out our mission of bringing positive and encouraging messaging to our listeners.
Intern must be working towards a degree in graphic design and proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Microsoft PowerPoint.
Bonus Skills: Experience with Canva, Premiere Pro, or After Effects is a plus.
The Graphic Design Intern will gain experience in the following areas:
- Designing print and digital graphics for various campaigns
- Assisting with branding and maintaining visual consistency
- Producing supporting assets such as signage, promotional materials, and marketing visuals
- Learning creative workflows, establishing timelines, and managing design requests in a professional environment
- Receiving direct feedback and mentorship from the Creative Services Director
BRIGHT-FM is seeking an intern with a passion for communication through digital content creation. The intern hired for this position will exhibit creativity, ideation, and have strong writing, organizational, and project management skills.
Intern must be spiritually mature, confident in their faith, and working toward a degree in communications, journalism, digital media, or a related field.
The Digital Content Intern will gain experience in the following areas:
- Writing and publishing SHINE Daily articles that inspire and encourage
- Contributing content to the BRIGHT-FM Weekly Email
- Adding content pages to BRIGHTFM.com
- Learning how to contextualize messages effectively across digital platforms
- Developing content workflows, managing content related projects, and meeting content deadlines
- Receiving direct feedback and mentorship from the Digital Director
BRIGHT-FM is seeking an intern with a knowledge and interest in radio production. The intern hired for this position will need to have organizational skills, time management skills, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
Intern must be able to carry out our mission of bringing positive and encouraging messaging to our listeners. It is highly recommended that that intern is working towards a degree in broadcasting or communications. The intern is required to have weeknight and weekend availability.
The Production Intern will gain experience in the following areas:
- Producing promos and commercials
- Loading promos, programs, and commercials into a radio automatic system
- Inspecting and trimming programs
BRIGHT-FM is seeking an intern with a heart for community outreach and an interest in radio. The intern hired for this position must be comfortable interacting with the station’s listeners in a positive and encouraging manner.
The intern is required to have weeknight and weekend availability.
The Community Engagement & Live Events Intern will gain experience in the following areas:
- Planning and coordinating local community outreach events and contests
- Assist in on-site coordination of live events
- Representing BRIGHT-FM at concerts and other station events
- Building and communicating with a volunteer team
BRIGHT-FM is seeking an intern with an interest in radio and digital advertising sales. The intern hired for this position will need to have organizational skills, strong interpersonal communication skills, the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and desire to learn about marketing/business.
Intern must be motivated by the ministry-focused facets of our organization. It is highly recommended that the intern is working towards a degree in marketing, advertising, digital media, management, or business.
The Sales Intern will gain experience in the following areas:
- Identifying and prospecting for new business
- Creating advertising solutions for businesses
- Research to aid in sales process
- Servicing client accounts
- Digital sales and marketing
BRIGHT-FM is seeking an intern with an interest in media group and/or para-church ministry operations. The intern hired for this position will need to have organizational skills, strong interpersonal communication skills, time management skills, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
Intern must be motivated by the ministry-focused facets of our organization. It is highly recommended that the intern is working towards a degree in operations management, project management, management, communications, or business.
The Operations Intern will gain experience in the following areas:
- Coordinating multi-department projects
- Working within a work operating system (OS) platform
- Developing and implementing workflows and new strategies to improve company productivity
- Operating a radio station
- Maintaining compliance to FCC broadcast regulations
- Exposure to company budgeting, budgeting maintenance, and best practices

When will this internship take place?
- Fall Internship: 8-12 weeks beginning in early September
- Spring Internship: 8-12 weeks beginning in early February
- Summer Internship: 8-12 weeks beginning in early June
What are the application deadlines?
- Fall Deadline: June 30th
- Spring Deadline: November 30th
- Summer Deadline: March 31st
What does a typical week look like?
You will work a maximum of 25 hours each week, Monday-Friday. Certain internship roles may require evening and weekend hours. Ability to travel to both Halethorpe and off-site locations in our listening area is necessary.
Will I need my own transportation?
In order to fulfill your daily responsibilities with ease, a reliable form of transportation is necessary for your internship.
Can I receive college credit for my internship?
You may receive college credit pending clearance from your university or college. If your school offers internship opportunities, we will work directly with them to ensure that you meet the necessary requirements.
When will I be notified about acceptance into the Semester in Media internship program?
Our team reviews applications carefully to find the best fit for the upcoming semester. Here is a timeline of what you can expect:
- Initial Review: You can expect to hear from us regarding the next steps within 2–3 weeks.
- Final Decision: Official notifications regarding acceptance into the program are typically sent out approximately 6 weeks before the start of the internship semester.
Is this internship paid?
Yes. All interns will receive $15.00 per hour.
What qualifications are looked for in the internship application process?
To be considered for the Semester in Media Internship Program, applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Current Enrollment: Must be a currently enrolled student in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program. Preference may be given to those in Communications, Marketing, Digital Media, or related fields.
- Mission Alignment: A desire to grow spiritually and a commitment to BRIGHT-FM’s mission of more people, growing deeper, and serving others.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with both the team and our constituents.
- Technical Aptitude: Familiarity with basic media tools is a plus, though we provide hands-on training.
- Reliability: Ability to commit to a consistent weekly schedule for the duration of the semester.
- Proactive Mindset: A “can-do” attitude and a willingness to learn the “behind-the-scenes” operations of a media and radio.
