Molly’s Minute: The Best Direction For Our Hearts
Where have you found your thoughts landing today? Is there something that’s really preoccupying you or holding your focus?
Maybe it’s something you’re looking forward to or a goal of yours. Maybe it’s a source of anxiety or an insecurity—whatever it is, your thoughts go right to it whenever they get the chance.
Our hearts and our thoughts are always going to be directed towards something. But there’s something, or rather, someone, who’s better than anything else we could occupy our minds with.
2 Thessalonians 3:5, “May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ.”
There are a lot of places that our thoughts could go, some better than others. It’s not bad to think about dreams and goals. It’s not great to be preoccupied with worries and troubles.
But it brings joy and hope and peace to meditate on God’s love shown to us through Christ. Jesus is the best thing to think about.
So, if you’re looking for a better target for your thoughts today, let that be your prayer. “Lord, direct my heart to your love, and to the steadfastness of your son, Jesus.” And my friend, He will. He’s faithful.
