Molly’s Minute: Moving Mountains, One Stone At A Time

August 3, 2020

Growing up, I always dreaded having to clean my room.

I was—and still am—a pretty messy person. So, cleaning my room was a big task, and I’d get overwhelmed by it. There was always so much to do that I never knew where to begin.

And my mom knew that. So she would come in and tell me to start by picking up one thing and putting it away.

So that’s what I’d do. And then I’d pick up the next thing. And then the next, and pretty soon, my whole room would be clean.

When we want to get something done or make a change in our lives, sometimes we get stuck looking at the mountain. The task in front of us looks too big, and we get intimidated.

But there’s an old saying that goes, “The one who moves a mountain begins by carrying away small stones.

Every big change starts with one little step.

So, whatever the mountain is in your life today, don’t let it intimidate you. Instead, take a look at the small stones in front of you and choose which one to move first.

Matthew 17:20 “For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”
