Molly’s Minute: High Expectations

Before we got married a few years ago, my husband, Vaughn, and I did a round of pre-marriage counseling.
And one thing that we learned is that we’re very different when it comes to expectations.
While Vaughn tends to anticipate the best, I’m more of a prepare-for-the-worst kind of person.
I don’t like to be disappointed. I don’t want to get my hopes up, just to be let down. So, I keep my expectations low.
But Scripture assures that we don’t have to expect the worst out of fear. In fact, we can confidently expect great things from God.
Ephesians 3:20 says that God “…is able to do far more abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us…”
That biggest dream, that highest expectation for our lives? God can meet that. And even exceed it.
So today, let’s stop trying to protect ourselves with low expectations. And let’s start expecting great things from Him.
Ephesians 3:20 “Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.“
