Molly’s Minute: Growth In The Wilderness

In our house, my husband and I have one very unique plant.
I say it’s unique because, for five months out of the year, you’re not supposed to water it.
You’d think that five months with no water would kill this thing.
But it doesn’t.
Every year, after months of lacking something that it needs, the plant grows. Every year, it comes back bigger and greener than it was before.
And God tends to do something very similar for us during our times in the wilderness.
He did it for the Israelites, right?
Deuteronomy 8:2 “…the Lord your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you…”
Growth doesn’t often happen when life is easy.
It is in the wilderness, under tough conditions, lacking the things we think we need, that God brings about the most growth in us.
So, if you are walking through the wilderness today, remember who is leading you through it. And that even now—especially now—He is bringing growth.
