Molly’s Minute: Am I Good Enough For God To Work Through?

October 30, 2023

In the book of Exodus, God calls Moses to help Him bring the Israelites out of Egypt. He tells Moses to go and speak before Pharaoh.

But Moses doesn’t think he can do it

He tells God that he can’t talk to Pharaoh, because he’s “slow of speech and of tongue.”

But that doesn’t change God’s mind.

God responds, “Who has made man’s mouth… Is it not I, the Lord? Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall speak.”

And Moses does go. He speaks before Pharaoh, and he helps God bring the Israelites out of Egypt.

God was able to use Moses for his purposes, even though there was probably someone better suited for the job, because being used by God isn’t about us and what we can do.

It’s about Him and what He is able to accomplish.

So, if you don’t feel cut out for the work that God has chosen for you, remember that it isn’t up to you to be good enough.

It’s up to Him. And you can be sure that He is good enough to get it done.

Exodus 4:10-12 “But Moses said to the LORD, ‘Oh, my Lord, I am not eloquent, either in the past or since you have spoken to your servant, but I am slow of speech and of tongue.’ Then the LORD said to him, ‘Who has made man’s mouth? Who makes him mute, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Is it not I, the LORD? Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall speak.'”
