2 Chronicles 20:15-17 is a passage from the reign of King Jehoshaphat. These verses drop us into the story just after Jehoshaphat had received word that his enemies were preparing to attack.

Jehoshaphat was afraid. His reaction to this fear bubbling up inside of him? He called a nationwide fast and held a service to seek the Lord. Jehoshaphat offered a powerful prayer that can really be a model for us to this day. Not just the prayer, but his posture as well… Both are powerful examples of how we can respond to crisis and prevail in God’s strength.

So, King Jehoshaphat prayed…and God answers the his prayer through a man named Jahaziel, through whom the Spirit of the Lord encourages the king and the people. Listen below for details on Jehoshaphat’s battle plan for fear and crisis that we should all be using…

“He said: ‘Listen, King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem! This is what the Lord says to you: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s. Tomorrow march down against them. They will be climbing up by the Pass of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the gorge in the Desert of Jeruel. You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be with you.’” – 2 Chronicles 20:15-17
