We The Kingdom’s Story Behind Their Song, “Child of Love”
“See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are…” -1 John 3:1
Have you ever heard someone refer to themselves as a “child of God”? Oftentimes, this is a synonym used for believers in Christ. But “Child of God” is not a name we should take lightly. It’s actually a gift; in fact, Jesus encouraged and instructed His followers to become like children.
“At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” 2 And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them 3 and said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” -Matthew 18:1-4
But so many of us, as we grow up, lose that Child-like faith and humility that Jesus spoke about. Fortunately, We The Kingdom’s song, “Child of Love” was written to remind listeners of this gift and bring us back to the freedom we have as children of God.
For lead singer, Franni Rae Cash, this song was a breakthrough back into the child-like place in her heart and it reminds her that in Christ, she is free from “fear, intimidation, or what people think.”
“It’s so triumphant to remind myself that I am a child of love, I am a child of God, and He IS love. My identity is in Him, so I can be confident in that and be child-like and free” she explained in a video about the song.
