Wait, Jesus Wants Us To Do WHAT?

“Forgive and forget.”

It’s a phrase we hear all the time. Simple to say, but incredibly difficult to live out.

When someone hurts us, forgiveness often feels like the last thing we want to offer. And forgetting? Even harder. That’s what makes God’s command to “love your enemies” such a challenge.

But like all of God’s commands, this one is for our good. He knows that forgiveness sets us free from the weight of bitterness and brings us closer to the likeness of His Son. The truth is, real forgiveness isn’t something we can accomplish on our own. It takes the help of our heavenly Father.

So the next time we find ourselves wrestling between holding a grudge or offering grace, let’s choose forgiveness and ask God to give us the strength to follow through.

“But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike”. – Matthew 5:44-45
