God Has A Bird’s-eye View

Remember when you were a kid waiting for your turn to go down a water slide? Waiting, climbing stairs, enviously watching other kids squeal with laughter as they raced down the slide.
As a child, there was always one part I didn’t understand – why was it that right when it was finally my turn, the lifeguard stared beyond the slide and told me to wait?
Now, as a 22-year-old waterslide-lover, I understand that the lifeguards were making me wait to keep me safe, because they saw something I couldn’t.
Unfortunately, the frustration of waiting isn’t limited to the line of the waterslide – it can be found in almost every stage of life.
We have to remember that just like the lifeguard, God sees what we cannot. He isn’t making us wait to be cruel or to keep us from good things. Instead, He is making sure the path is safe, clear, and ready before sending us out.
If you’re in a season of waiting right now, you’re not alone. Waiting affects all of us and it can be SO difficult. But it all becomes a bit easier when we remember that God sees the full picture.
He is preparing something great, and all we need is a little bit of patience and a whole lot of faith.
“The Lord will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” – Psalm 121:7-8
