Does God Want Me?
The short answer? Absolutely.
A thousand times yes. More than the entirety of the universe. More than anything or anyone you have ever loved, God wants you.
It’s human to wonder if God still wants you after everything you have done. After all, God is holy and perfect, and we are nowhere close. How could He still want us? With all the lies, the people we’ve hurt, the things we’ve said, and the times we’ve turned our backs on Him?
But in the most astonishing way, it was this holy and perfect God who sent His Son, Jesus, to the very earth He created, to be killed on a cross by the very people He lovingly made.
Who came back to life on the third day and defeated death, as payment on our behalf, for all the wrongs each and every one of us have done. By accepting this gift and choosing to follow, love, and worship Jesus, we become a part of God’s family. We become a part of this salvation story.
He has offered this gift at the cost of the cross.
Because He wanted you.
God has never looked at you and wished He saw someone else.
He has wanted you from the very start. He knows you completely (Psalm 139:1-3), and still wants you. He loves you (1 Thessalonians 1:4), and wants you to love Him, because that’s the only way that missing piece in your heart will be found again. We were always meant to be with Him, love Him, worship Him, and follow Him.
We were never meant to live this life on our own. We were always meant to live a life following Him. Loving the God who first loved us (1 John 4:19).
So, yes. God wants you.
He wants you to know how wanted you are. How loved and seen you are.
He wants you to follow Him, because that’s when you’ll finally feel whole, and at home. Because, with Him, you are.
