A Prayer For The United States This July 4th

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for this country we live in.

It’s far from perfect. We have a lot of work to do, but You have each of us here for a reason, and we praise You for it.

Today as we celebrate, we turn our hearts to You in gratitude. Along with our gratitude, we bring our frustration, our grief, our worry, and our searching for answers.

For the difficult issues we face as a nation, we pray for Your wisdom and guidance. We also pray for peace and love for one another as we navigate solutions.

For our leaders, we ask for You to mold their plans and their hearts to match Yours. Draw near to them, Father.

For those who are grieving, wash over them with the strength and the peace that only You can give.

For those who have been cast aside, who feel unseen and deeply hurt, we pray that You would help us draw near to them as the hands and feet of Jesus to serve and to love them.

For those who don’t know You, we pray that their hearts would be softened to Your truth and that they would encounter the radical love of Christ.

For Your followers, who You have situated here for a divine purpose, we pray that You would give us the urgency to share Your Gospel with those You place in our path.

We don’t have all the answers, Lord. And this year has been hard. Loved ones have been lost, tragedies have taken place, and questions abound.

Through it all, we seek Your face and ask that our nation would turn to You.

We pray for a joyful and safe July 4th for all.
