Why Brian Gives Back to the Camp that “Feels Like Home”

December 1, 2025

Can one week of camp change a life?

Just ask Brian.

Brian first came to River Valley Ranch over 50 years ago as a quiet 12-year-old. He loved the outdoors: hiking, camping, and exploring. RVR became a haven to him, and it’s where he met Jesus for the first time, the beginning of a lifelong relationship.

After encountering Jesus, Brian wanted to stay the rest of the summer, but his mom was a single parent, and there was no possible way but for God. An anonymous gift paid for Brian to spend the rest of that summer, where he began building community and growing in his faith. All these years later, “RVR still feels like home.”

Now, Brian is giving back the love sown into him as a young boy as a supporter of the RVR Scholarship Fund

“RVR will forever be a part of my life,” he says, wanting that meaningful life impact to be available to all young people, “so that a lack of resources never stands in the way of a life-changing week of camp.”

One Week At RVR Can Change A Life

God has been changing lives at RVR for over 73 years! Brian’s life is just one example, and his story of providing scholarships to kids he may never even meet is a generous act of love, one that can inspire all of us.
