Where To Read The Christmas Story In The Bible

Nativity scene with Mary, Joseph, and the Baby Jesus

You might be seeing Bible verses here and there about Jesus’ birth, but where can we read the story of our Savior’s birth in its entirety?

You can find the Christmas story in two places within the Bible. Both Scripture passages provide beautiful pictures and details of that night in Bethlehem that changed everything.

Matthew 1:18 – 2:1-23

Luke 1:26-562:1-40

Whether you can recite the story by heart or have never read it before, the story of Christ’s arrival is a beautiful passage to read and then reread as we take time to reflect this season on the greatest gift God has ever given us: His Son.

Consider trying the SOAP method as you read:

S – Read the Scripture passages and write out a verse that stands out to you.
O – What do you observe about it? Details, what’s happening, etc.
A – How can you apply what you’ve observed?
P – Pray about what you’ve read, giving God thanks or inviting the Holy Spirit’s help.

As you read, we pray the story of Jesus’ birth will come alive like never before and bring you joy that lasts long after Christmas has come and gone.
