Ron Shares How God Used A Song To Help Him Get Sober

Five years ago, Ron was just beginning his sobriety journey, and his sister suggested that he listen to BRIGHT-FM for some encouragement as he faced that uphill battle. Ron took her advice and began listening. Every time Ron got into the car and turned his radio on, it seemed like only one song was playing: Francesca Battistelli’s “If We’re Honest.” It’s a song that spoke directly to Ron and what he was walking through.
The song’s lyrics serve as an invitation to bring all our pain, shortcomings, and struggles to God because He longs to meet us right where we are and help us through. It’s a reminder that when we’re honest, “mercy is waiting on the other side.” The chorus of the song goes…
“Bring your brokenness, and I’ll bring mine
‘Cause love can heal what hurt divides
And mercy’s waiting on the other side
If we’re honest…”
We’re thanking God that mercy was waiting on the other side for Ron, and we’re celebrating with him for being five years sober! Congratulations, Ron!
Are you longing for mercy to meet you on the other side of your struggle? The invitation God had for Ron is the same one He has for you: bring your honest heart to Him. He is ready and waiting with open arms.
