Remembering Becky Garzone, 1974 – 2024

BRIGHT-FM

On December 20, 2024, our dear friend and Brighter Media Group staff member, Becky Garzone, entered Heaven after a brave battle with breast cancer.

Becky first came to us as a volunteer, working her first concert — Jeremy Camp, Speaking Louder Than Before Tour — in October 2009.

We knew in a short amount of time she would be more than a volunteer, and the Lord would open up an opportunity when He was ready for her to join our ministry in a great capacity. In the meantime, Becky served at almost every concert by helping in catering, putting signs on the doors, putting towels and water bottles inside of dressing rooms, or whatever was needed. She was a trustworthy member of our volunteer team.

Then, in 2015, the Lord opened the door for Becky to join us full-time as Assistant Director of our concert ministry, 48Live, where she worked alongside Director Mike Alley, helping manage the day-to-day operations of our concerts. She created meaningful relationships with artists’ management and venues, ensuring a great concert for them and attendees.

You’d often see Becky walking (more like a glide; Becky was never in a hurry) the venue floor with her two-way radio, checking in with the many volunteers and teams or helping a guest with their seat location.

Becky was calm, unflappable, and unhurried — which is a surprise given the copious amounts of black coffee she drank. During one particularly difficult hospital stay, the doctor told Becky she could re-introduce a second liquid. Of course, she chose coffee, which was no surprise to anyone! Becky also had a sharp sense of humor, a story for everything, and she made a mean bowl of chili, taking home the coveted Brighter Media Group golden chili bowl in 2023.

But more than anything, Becky was deeply passionate — fiercely passionate — about sharing the Gospel. Even during the toughest times of her cancer journey, when she spent weeks intubated and awake in the hospital, unable to speak and enduring significant discomfort, she found ways to share Jesus with everyone who entered her room. She would often tell them about her Savior — written down on a pad of paper — before she’d discuss her next treatment steps. For Becky, sharing the love of Christ was her first priority. Even though she would never have chosen the path of breast cancer, she was grateful the Lord was using her to help others know Him. She knew the Lord would make good on His promise in Romans 8:28 to “cause everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”

Becky would be overjoyed if you considered inviting Jesus into your life and allowing Him to transform you just as He transformed her. She believed with all her heart that a relationship with Jesus brings true peace, purpose, and hope. If you already know Jesus but feel like He’s more of an acquaintance, Becky would encourage you to make Him a closer friend through regular prayer, seeking a deeper connection with Him as both your Savior and your friend. She lived her life with a love for Jesus that was contagious, and she would be thrilled to know others would come to know Him in the same way.
