Mike’s Story of Love

Can one week of camp change a life?

Just ask Mike.

Mike first came to River Valley Ranch 50 years ago, when he was 11. And it was there at RVR, that Mike found Jesus.

“I accepted the Lord as my Savior during that first incredible week at RVR, and my time there gave me many fond memories.”

The love of Jesus was life-changing for Mike. Those seeds planted during his time at RVR, that first summer when he met Jesus and subsequent summers, grew into a lifetime of faith and trust in God.

“As you know, He never leaves our side!”

Looking back, there’s another love that stands out to Mike – the kindness of a church family that paid for his camp trips.

“The only way I was able to attend RVR was through the very kind and loving hearts of another family who paid for each of my (and my brothers’) camp trips,” Mike reminisces. “If not for their support, I’m sure I would have found the Lord (I know He was looking for me), but I believe the Lord wanted me to find Him and accept Him through the incredible experiences I had at River Valley Ranch.”

Now, Mike is giving back the love sown into him as a young boy as a supporter of the RVR Scholarship Fund.

“RVR changed my life, even as young as I was. I hope I can continue to offer support to others who have the desire but may not have the ability to attend a life-changing opportunity at River Valley Ranch.”

One week of camp can absolutely change a life – and God has been changing lives at RVR for over 72 years! Mike’s life is just one example, and his story of providing scholarships to kids he may never even meet is a generous act of love – one that can inspire all of us!
