Josh Baldwin On The Purpose Behind “Made for More”
Identity. Purpose. Have you been looking for them?
If so, Josh Baldwin wants to encourage you to look to the Lord to find them with his new song, Made for More.
‘Cause I wasn’t made to be tending a grave
I was called by name
Born and raised back to life again
I was made for more
We all want an answer to the question, “Who am I, and what was I made for?” What Josh Baldwin would have us remember is that there’s no better person to ask than the One who made us.
“This song is all about identity and who you are in the Lord,” Josh says. “And when you know the Lord, He begins to reveal who you are, and your calling.”
Everyone makes their own plans and has their own ideas about their purpose. But God created you, knows you completely, and has a calling specifically for you in mind that’s better than anything you could dream for yourself.
I know who I am ‘cause I know who You are
The cross of salvation was only the start
Now I am chosen, free and forgiven
I have a future and it’s worth the living
We couldn’t get to God’s calling and future for us on our own, though. They’re only possible through Jesus.
“The verse, where it’s, ‘The cross of salvation was only the start,’ it’s kind of a funny thing to say because the whole point of the cross and the resurrection is, ‘It is finished.’ But in a way, because of that, that’s the start and the beginning of the new life that we can live in Him,” Josh shared.
Jesus has freed you from sin, and now, when you question who you are and what you were made to do, He offers the answer. He’s called you loved, chosen, and saved, and has made you a new creation with a beautiful purpose: to bring Him glory.
Oh hallelujah
You called out my name
So I’ll sing out Your praise
And hallelujah
You buried my past
I’m not going back
As you listen to Made for More, may you remember that purpose, keep pressing on towards it, and give praise to the One who empowers you to live it out.
“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” – Ephesians 2:10
