Jesus’ Message On Generosity May Surprise You

A lot of coins made a bunch of noise as they were dropped into the bronze funnel opening of the temple treasury box. Everyone could hear those big offerings.
But the quiet sound of two small copper coins is what caught Jesus’ ear.
A poor widow dropped in all she had.
She must’ve known…God had been her Provider all along, and surely He would always be.
Don’t let the worry over tomorrow make you cling so tightly to your stuff that you miss out on one of the greatest joys we have…to be generous.
When we’re generous we get two gifts in return:
- We get to be a part of blessing others
- We get to see God fill us again with more to share.
How is God calling me and you to be generous today? Is it with our time? Our talents? Our money? Let’s go to Him and ask with hearts that are willing and ready to serve.
“Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents. Calling His disciples to Him, Jesus said, ‘Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.’”
- Jesus, in Mark 12:41-44
