How a Scholarship Helped Bella Come Alive
Bella came to River Valley Ranch with a heartbreaking burden. She struggled with fitting in at school and making friends. Her grandmother wanted to provide a week of summer camp, but they didn’t have the resources while Bella’s father was incarcerated, and she and her mother, and her siblings lived with their grandmother.
Thanks to a scholarship, Bella was able to attend a week of camp at RVR. She was nervous about what to expect, but her grandmother prayed it would be a faith-growing experience.
When Bella came home, “She was a changed child – so excited, so bubbly, naming people she met and talking about Jesus. Bella talked about daily small group meetings and how she felt like she belonged for the first time. She said camp changed her perspective on how the world treated her.”
The whole-hearted fun that happens at camp, along with meaningful relationships with RVR’s quality, caring staff, can truly transform a life during one week of camp. This connection creates a sense of belonging that can leave a life-long impact.
God uses camp powerfully. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if a lack of resources would never stand in the way for kids like Bella to experience God’s love and belonging at camp?
On Giving Tuesday, you can give a kid like Bella the chance to step away from their burdens and be a kid again, feeling safe, loved, and accepted. Most importantly, you’re giving the chance to experience the joy of God’s life-changing love over darkness.
God has been changing lives at RVR for over 73 years! Bella’s life is just one example, and you can make a difference for a child like Bella next summer with a gift on Giving Tuesday.
