What Is Your BRIGHT-FM Song?

September 21, 2021

At BRIGHT-FM, we hope to play songs that encourage you, point you to Jesus, and meet you in the moments when you need them the most.

So, hearing stories of the specific songs that have done that for you is one of our absolute favorite things.

Recently, we asked what your BRIGHT-FM song is and why, and we loved each and every story we heard. Here are a few:

“Who Am I” by NEEDTOBREATHE

This song literally stopped me in my tracks when I was driving into work one night. I’ve always struggled with self-worth and trying to accept God’s love and I felt like those song lyrics were from my heart.” – Erin

“Scars In Heaven” by Casting Crowns

I lost my dad suddenly on 12/31/20 and this song gets me every time. I know he is with Jesus, but gosh how we miss him.” – Angel

“Be Alright” by Danny Gokey and Evan Craft

“Lately, it’s been ‘Be Alright’ by Danny Gokey and Evan Craft. For so many reasons — the state of our world, the pandemic, etc — but more personally and specifically a reminder that God is faithful through our journey of trying to conceive (for 3 years now).” – Sarah

“Joyful” by Dante Bowe

“It’s just always amazing to me how God works. Every time I’m grumpy or complaining too much about something, ‘Joyful’ by Dante Bowe comes on! I just have to smile and say, ‘I got it, Lord.’ Then I sing my heart out!” – Lanette

“Thy Will” by Hillary Scott & The Scott Family

“My wife’s is ‘Thy Will’ by Hillary Scott & The Scott Family. It’s the first song we heard after she was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer in 2016. After a year of chemo, surgery, and radiation, she was cancer-free in 2017 and still going strong in 2021! God is good all the time. And all the time, God is good.” -Jay

“Battle Belongs” by Phil Wickham

I have lived a marriage of abuse and am in the separation, boundary stages and this song touches me. I have watched the Lord step into every issue and fight for me, I praise Him because He is my Almighty Fortress.” -Lori

“Truth Be Told” by Matthew West

This is one of my main current ones. The reason is that I let myself believe a lot of the lies and it led to spiritual exhaustion. The song is such a lovely reminder those voices are NOT from God, and I need to check myself when I may be spreading those lies unintentionally to others.” – Katie
