This Is How We Live Like Jesus & Share His Love

“Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did.” – 1 John 2:6

When we read this verse, it’s easy to misunderstand of what it means to live as Jesus lived.

Living as Jesus did doesn’t mean go gather your 12 closest friends, start calling them your disciples, perform mind-blowing and earth-shaking miracles that garner everyone’s undivided attention, and then die on the cross for the sin of the world.

Many of the things that Jesus did had direct relation to Him being the Son of God. That was His divine identity. That’s why He could fulfill the role of being our perfect sacrifice and dying for our sins.

However, we can’t copy Christ’s life, and we aren’t meant to, but that doesn’t mean we can’t live like Him.

So what does it mean when 1 John 2:6 tells us that we “must live as Jesus did”?

If we want to live today like Christ would, we have to start by obeying His teachings and giving our all to following His perfect example of complete obedience to God, along with loving service to everyone that we come into contact with.

When we serve others and live out the truth of God’s Word, we become more like Jesus. We don’t have to do this alone, either. That’s why God gave us the Holy Spirit — to strengthen and help us as we represent Him here on Earth.

Today, let’s ask for the Holy Spirit’s help to live like Jesus, and then watch to see how God shows up and moves in us!
