What Does It Mean To Live Like Jesus?

“Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.” – 1 John 2:6
When we read this verse, it’s easy to get a misunderstanding of what it means to live like Jesus, or to live as Jesus lived.
Living as Jesus did doesn’t mean go gather your 12 closest friends, start calling them your disciples, perform mind-blowing and earth shaking miracles that garner everyone’s undivided attention, and die on the cross for the sin of the world.
Many of the things that Jesus did had direct relation to Him being the Son of God, that was His divine identity. That’s why He could fulfill the role of being our perfect sacrifice and dying for our sins.
However, we can’t copy Christ’s life, and we aren’t meant to, but that doesn’t mean we can’t live like Him.
So what does it mean when 1 John 2:6 tells us that we “must live as Jesus did”?
If we want to live today like Christ would, we have to start by obeying His teachings and giving it our all to follow His perfect example of complete obedience to God along with loving service to everyone that we come into contact with.
Through serving others by bringing them the truth of God’s Word…well, that’s how we become more like Jesus.
