The Music In Me

Just recently, my husband and I were taking a look at Psalm 19 and doing a little word study on it. There’s a part of the Psalm that’s really familiar to me, it’s like a prayer from King David; he said,
“May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be pleasing to you, oh Lord my Rock, my Redeemer.” – Psalm 19:14
I loved that. I felt like I could borrow that prayer any time I wanted. What a great prayer, you know? God, the words of MY mouth… the meditations of MY heart.
So we did a specific word study on the word “meditation”, and it’s this Hebrew word higgaion. It was interesting to find out the term is actually a musical one. It’s like the plucking of the strings of the lyre.
So think about that.
“May the mediations of my heart”… It’s like the music of my heart. There’s music playing in the background of my heart all the time, and I pray that even that is pleasing to God.
So much of who we are, who we become, and how we think is shaped by the things that we take in and the things that we think about. That’s like the music of our hearts, and it’s always just kind of there, you know? May THAT be pleasing to you Lord. What a beautiful prayer, and I just love love love, BRIGHT-FM. I need this radio station too because it helps the music of my heart be the kind of music I know is pleasing to God.
