Stuck Inside? Check-in With Others

These are unprecedented times, and if we weren’t familiar with the idea of going stir-crazy before, then we are now.

Everyone’s lives have been turned upside down in some shape or form, but some are feeling the weight of change more than others. What if we checked up on those that might be having an especially hard time?

We all might be forbidden from seeing one another, but that doesn’t mean our connections with one another have to suffer. Here are some ideas of how to stay connected and check-in on those who need it most:

  • Send some encouragement to high school and college seniors. Their worlds have been shattered. The ceremonies and events they’ve worked so hard for and looked forward to for so long have been snatched from them.
  • Call someone who is living alone. They might have been okay at first, but the longer this self-isolation continues, the more lonely they could get.
  • Contact someone who is living in a nursing home. They most likely aren’t allowed to have visitors at this time and probably feel very uneasy about what is going on in the world.
  • Send out cards to people to let them know you are thinking of them and praying for them. This could be a great comfort for those who have lost their jobs. A few nice words can go a long way in a time like this.

Scary times are always easier when we stick together (in this case, virtually stick-together, of course). What are some other ways you can offer support and community even in the midst of a quarantine?
