My Faith In God Is Falling Apart

“You were running the race so well. Who has held you back from following the truth? It certainly isn’t God, for he is the one who called you to freedom.”
Galatians 5:7-10
Do you find yourself stepping back from God because you just aren’t sure anymore? Has your faith run out of steam? Do you feel like you just don’t trust Him right now?
One of the first things you can do to check why is examine how much time you spend with God. It’s hard to love someone and give them your full trust when you…
– stop talking to them
– stop spending time with them
– start listening to negative things people say about them
Sometimes these things happen simply because we haven’t made the space like we used to. Other times it can be because we feel like our expectations weren’t met, so we distance ourselves from being hurt again. Whatever the reason, God loves an honest conversation, and He’s big enough to hear what you have to say – your anger, your questions, your uncertainty, all of it.
You know how it is when you love someone but you are angry with them? You don’t want to look at them, talk to them, or be near them, yet you still care about them. You know you need to just bite the bullet and start the conversation so you can clear the air and get back to where you were. Why not do the same thing with God?
Ask God how it fell apart. Ask Him to meet you where you are. Tell Him you’re mad. Tell Him you’re unsure. Tell Him you’re exhausted. When you do this, make sure you leave space for Him to respond. Crack open His Word to you – your Bible, the Bible app , or a Bible online. Try an easy to read version like the New Living Translation or The Message, and read the books of Habakkuk or Job. They’re two guys who found themselves seeing and experiencing deep pain and had some tough questions for God.
“The Lord is close to all who call on him, yes, to all who call on him in truth.” – Psalm 145:18
I promise God loves you, He has an open door, and you don’t need to feel shame going to Him.
