Molly’s Minute: The Extraordinary In The Ordinary

October 7, 2020

Have you ever found yourself amazed at something that’s so completely ordinary to someone else?

I grew up in Pasadena, MD, where there really wasn’t much in town. If we ever wanted to get something to eat or do something fun, we had to drive about fifteen minutes away.

So, to this day, when I visit a family member or a friend who lives in a bustling area, I’m amazed. I can’t believe there are so many restaurants and things to do so close to where they live.

But that’s such an ordinary thing to them. They see all those things every day, so they’re nothing special.

When we experience something on a daily basis, it slowly loses its luster. But just because something is an everyday thing, doesn’t mean it can’t be extraordinary.

The breath in your lungs today, the nature all around you, your family members, your friends, your job, your hobbies—these are everyday things. But they’re also all gifts from God—amazing gifts worthy of gratitude.

There is always extraordinary to be found the ordinary. So, let’s not forget to find it and appreciate it today.

Psalm 103:5 He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!”
