Molly’s Minute: Storing Up Treasures Where They Last

Imagine that you’re moving into a new house. It’s completely empty, but you’re given enough money to decorate and furnish it however you want.
But there’s a catch.
In one month, you have to move out. And you can’t take anything that you bought for the house with you.
Would you spend time, money, and effort filling the house with stuff you can’t keep? Wouldn’t that be a waste?
It’s so easy to get caught up in our material possessions—the things we have and don’t have, the things others have that we want.
But chasing after material things is always a waste of time, money, and effort.
Because material things don’t last. They’re always either lost, damaged, or left behind.
So, let’s not focus on storing up treasures here on Earth, where they won’t last. Instead, let’s store up treasures in heaven, where they last forever.
Matthew 6:20 “Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal.”
