Molly’s Minute: Setting The Tone For Your Day
What was the first thing you said after you woke up this morning? What was the first thought that you had? Can you remember?
I’ll tell you, my first thought this morning wasn’t a great one. It was something like, “Oh man, I wish I could just get back in bed.”
But if I could go back, I would choose to have a different first thought. Because your first thought in the morning sets the tone for the rest of your day.
Psalm 92: 1-2 says, “It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to your name, O God; to declare your steadfast love in the morning…”
How would it change our lives if we started our morning by giving thanks to God, instead of dreading the day ahead? By singing His praises, rather than complaining? By remembering His steadfast love before remembering our to-do list for the day?
So, I didn’t have a great first thought this morning. And maybe you didn’t either, and it’s affected how the rest of your day has gone. But the good news for both of us is that we can try again tomorrow.
Remember, if you ever need prayer for anything you’re going through, I would love to pray for you. You can send prayer requests to me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
