Molly’s Minute: Praying For Change In Posture

When things go wrong in life, I don’t know about you, but my first response is to pray that things will change. That the obstacle in front of me will be moved.
So recently, I’ve been praying that God would help our leaders make good decisions that will keep us safe. I’ve been praying that stay-at-home orders would be lifted safely soon. And I’ve been praying that we’ll start to see fewer and fewer confirmed cases every day.
I’ve been praying that God will change the situation around me.
And those are good, strong prayers to pray. God can certainly change those things.
But it may not be part of His will. In His infinite wisdom, knowledge, and goodness, God may choose not to change things, or at least not yet.
So, while we can certainly be praying that God will change our position, we should also be praying that He will help us change our posture—the way we approach our circumstances.
Because God may choose not to change our position, but He will always help us change our posture. Even if things don’t change, He can help us approach our situation with a posture of acceptance, patience, and peace.
So, while we keep praying for a change in our position, let’s also pray for a change in our posture today.
2 Corinthians 12:10 “For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weakness, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
