Molly’s Minute: No Take-Backs

When you give someone something—whether it’s a gift, or your time, or your money—do you ever try and take it back?
Probably not, right? It’s the no take-backs rule. Most of us learned it on the playground. When you give something to someone, then it’s theirs, and you don’t have any claim to it anymore. You can’t just take it back.
So, if we live by the no take-backs rule in our relationships with others, then why don’t we live by it in our relationships with God?
When we’re worried or anxious about something, yeah, we’ll give it up to Him.
But then… A little time goes by.
And we don’t see Him doing what we want with what we gave Him. We convince ourselves that He’s not going to do anything with it, and we try to take control of it again.
If you’re tempted to take something back from God today, I would encourage you to remember the no take-backs rule.
You’ve given it to Him, so it’s His. And if anybody’s got it, He’s got it.
No take-backs.
Psalm 62:8 “Trust in him at all times, oh people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us.”
