Molly’s Minute: Living Differently

Imagine that you’re waiting to get into an elevator.
The bell dings, the doors slide open, and you see that everyone inside the elevator is facing backwards.
What do you do?
This is a real social experiment. And it turns out that most people will eventually turn and face backwards, too.
The pressure of being different—of being the only one facing the doors—gets to be too much. So, even though they know they’re right, they turn to put their backs to the door, too.
Being different and resisting the pressure to blend in isn’t easy.
But living a Christian life means living differently.
Romans 12:2, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind…”
Accepting Jesus changes us from the inside out. And that means our lives are supposed to look different.
So today, let’s ask God to show us how He wants us to live differently, and to give us the courage and perseverance we need to stand out.
