Molly’s Minute: The Pick-Me-Up That Lasts

At the end of a long, difficult day, there is nothing I want more than a piece of chocolate.
Maybe you can relate.
When I’m having a bad day, chocolate seems like the thing that will make it all better.
So, I eat the chocolate. And in the moment, I feel better. But then it’s gone, and I realize that it didn’t actually help me at all.
It was just a temporary solution.
When we’re feeling down, we will go looking for a pick-me-up—for a source of hope, joy, or strength. And sometimes, we’ll find it.
But if we find it anywhere other than in Jesus, it won’t last.
In the Gospel of John, Jesus says, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again.”
Jesus is the only one who can fulfill us and keep us fulfilled. Every other pick-me-up is temporary.
So, when we need it today, let’s rely on Jesus—and Jesus alone—to lift us up.
John 4:13-14 “Jesus said to her, ‘Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.'”
