Molly’s Minute: Forgiven Forgivers

Imagine that you owe a friend some money. A decent amount, too—let’s say one thousand dollars.
You run into that friend on the street, and you brace yourself for them to remind you of what you owe them.
But instead, they forgive your debt.
They say, “Hey, don’t worry about that thousand dollars. You don’t have to pay me back. You don’t owe me anything.”
Then, the next day, you see someone who owes you five dollars.
Would you demand that they pay you back? Or would you forgive their debt?
At one time, we owed a debt that we could never afford. But Jesus paid it for us, and now, we’re forgiven.
All our sin, all our mistakes, everything that we’ve ever done or will ever do wrong was forgiven when Jesus died on the cross.
And if God could be that forgiving towards us, then we can certainly be forgiving towards the people in our lives.
We have been forgiven. So, let’s forgive.
Ephesians 4:32 “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”
