Molly’s Minute: Ask & Receive, Then Turn Back & Give Thanks

When my husband, Vaughn, and I were about to get married, like most people, we made a registry.
We made a list of all the things we wanted and needed, our friends and family got those things for us. And then—the last step—we needed to write our thank-you cards.
I remember sitting down to write them and seeing the size of the stack of cards we needed to write. And I wondered if writing the cards was really necessary.
But of course, I wrote them.
It was the right thing to do. When you ask for something and receive it, it’s only right to turn back and express your gratitude in return.
How often do we forget to turn back and give thanks to God for what He’s given us?
Scripture says that every good and perfect gift is from Him. And so many of the good gifts that we have today are things we specifically asked God for in the past.
We are living lives of answered prayers and requests.
So, let’s remember to turn back and give thanks for all the prayers God has answered today.
James 1:17 “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights…”
