Molly’s Minute: Alignment With God

A few years back, the alignment in my car got all kinds of messed up.
If I held the wheel straight, my car would pull significantly off to the right.
I remember feeling like my car was rebelling against me—like it was trying to steer itself down its own path.
And don’t we do the same thing when we’re out of alignment with God?
We start deciding what’s best for ourselves rather than letting God decide. And we end up steering ourselves in the wrong direction.
But thankfully, no matter how far down the wrong road we’ve gone, we can always be realigned—by surrendering to God’s will.
In the Garden of Gethsemane, as Jesus sought alignment with His Father’s will, He prayed, “Yet not what I will, but what you will.”
If we want to be aligned and in step with God, like Jesus, we have to lay down our will and accept His.
So today, let’s bow to God’s will. Let’s surrender what we want over to Him so that we can travel steadily in His direction.
Matthew 26:29 “Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, ‘My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.'”
