Are you playing it safe with your faith?

We often hear about the need to be bold, but what does that actually mean?

John the Baptist is the perfect picture of boldness. He spent his life preaching about the coming of the Messiah and baptized people from far and wide.

“In those days John the Baptist came to the Judean wilderness and began preaching. His message was, ‘Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.’” (Matthew 3:1-2)

He even had some harsh words of truth for the Pharisees (who already were not his biggest fans).

“But when he saw many Pharisees and Sadducees coming to watch him baptize, he denounced them. ‘You brood of snakes!’ he exclaimed. ‘Who warned you to flee the coming wrath? Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God. Don’t just say to each other, ‘We’re safe, for we are descendants of Abraham.’ That means nothing, for I tell you, God can create children of Abraham from these very stones. Even now the ax of God’s judgment is poised, ready to sever the roots of the trees. Yes, every tree that does not produce good fruit will be chopped down and thrown into the fire.'” (Matthew 3:7-10).

The most amazing thing was that John the Baptist did all this before Jesus had performed His many miracles. He relied simply on the promise of God because He who promised is always faithful (Hebrews 10:23).

Fast-forward to now…we know that Jesus gave sight to the blind, healed those with leprosy, defeated death, along with so many other miraculous acts

If we know all this and more, what’s keeping us from sharing it like John the Baptist did?

Jesus is far too loving to keep to ourselves. Let’s be bold and share His truth and what He’s done in our lives.
