Jesus Wants You To Empty Your Purse

The following is a transcription of the Tracey & Mike show
(5 a.m.-9 a.m. on BRIGHT-FM):
Tracey: Here’s something to think about…Mike, you’ve known me for a long time. I carry a much smaller purse now than I used to
Mike: Oh my gosh
Tracey: Do you remember my purses from back in the day?
Mike: We used to have a contest every once in a while, and it was like “what’s in Tracey’s purse?” And somewhere, I still have SeΓ±or Orange.
Tracey: Do you really? Mike found an orange in the lining of my purse once
Mike: It was amazingly preserved. It was dehydrated, but preserved. It wasn’t moldy or bad, it had just been in her purse lining for, I’m guessing, years
Tracey: It was petrified
Mike: Totally, I put a little sombrero on it and it became SeΓ±or Orange
Tracey: So, those days are over for me. I used to carry around these big purses, and the thing with big purses is you fill them up with a bunch of stuff you don’t need.
Could it be that you are carrying around things today that you don’t need? Okay, here’s some stuff we carry around with us that we don’t need
- False guilt
- Shame over things that you’ve already confessed to the Lord and that He’s given you forgiveness for
- Bitterness against people who have hurt you
- Sin – the weight of sin
- Discontentment
- Fear
- Worry
- Anxiety
- Comparison
Oh my goodness. You don’t need to be carrying that stuff around. You know that as a follower of Jesus, what we are meant to carry is the LOVE, the GRACE, and the MERCY of Jesus to a broken and hurting world.
That’s what you need to carry today because the world needs that and you’ve got the Spirit of Christ living in you – that is what you have to share with the world today!
So, empty that heart out (or that purse π) and let Jesus fill you up.
