Is God A Cosmic Abuser?
You may have heard people speak about God (specifically, the “Old Testament God”) as a “cosmic abuser.” A vengeful, wrathful, murderer.
Maybe you believe that yourself.
I do have empathy for that point of view because at first glance, it may appear that way, especially if we filter the Bible through our own lens and insert ourselves into the narrative, instead of reading the God’s Word fully and contextually.
It’s only when I began to do that, that my eyes were opened, and my heart exploded with this truth: God is just and righteous, but when we fail to measure up and to meet expectations, He fulfills the requirements for us.
God is so MERCIFUL. It is so clear throughout the pages of the New Testament, and it’s really what to book of Hosea is all about.
