How Jesus Served & 3 Ways You Can Follow His Lead This Month

February 1, 2022
BRIGHT-FM

Serving one another.

It’s not just something Jesus commanded. He lived it, and He wants us to do the same.

1 Peter 4:10 tells us that we “each have received a gift” and we must “use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace”

However, it can be hard to know what our gifts are and how God wants us to use them. Sometimes it helps to simplify the equation by looking at Jesus’ life.

During His time on Earth, wherever Jesus saw a need, He met it. He gave sight to the blind, healed illnesses, brought people back to life, and so much more.

Wherever Jesus went, He served.

Our Savior’s example shows us that we don’t need to stress and strive about where we should give our time, resources, or talents. Rather, if we see a need and are able to meet it, we can do it joyfully and be confident that God is with us.

If you have been searching for opportunities to help your community, BRIGHT-FM is joining with Hirsch Electric to collect items for local food pantries and we would love your help! If you are able, you can donate food items without leaving the comfort of your car and there are three opportunities to do so throughout the month of February:

February 10th, 4 PM – 6 PM at Chesapeake Christian Center
February 17th, 4 PM – 7 PM at Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena
February 26th, 12 PM – 2 PM at Victory Villa Community Church

At each location, all you need to do is drive up within the timeframe listed above, roll your window down, drop off your donation, and you’re on your way!

Here are the items most needed:
Pancake Mixes • Muffin Mixes • Pasta Sides • Peanut Butter • Potato Sides • Mashed Potatoes • Rice Sides • Cake Mixes • Brownie Mixes • Frosting • Peanut Butter • Canned Chicken Soup • Snacks (cookies, crackers) • Canned Meats (Spam, corned beef, ham, salmon) • Pancake Syrup • Granola Bars • Canned Fruit • Canned Corn • Canned Meals (Chef Boyardee, Stews, Chili) • Tomato Products (especially diced tomatoes, tomato paste)

If you aren’t able to donate, please do not feel any pressure! If you still would like to serve, could you join us in praying for these events? We are asking God that each Pantry Project collection will provide exceedingly and abundantly for the pantries so they are able to give to those in need!

However you choose to serve, God is protecting you, providing for you, and rejoicing over you every step of the way (Zephaniah 3:17)
