Hospice Patient Gets Baptized As Final Wish

Jenis James Grindstaff grew up reading the Bible and wanted to publicly declare his belief in Christ through baptism but never had the chance.
Grindstaff had been living in hospice care when nurses and staff members found out about his desire to be baptized before he died. After hearing about the final wish, they pulled some strings to make sure it happened.
The baptism was arranged and members of Grindstaff’s family flew in to witness as chaplain Terrell Jones conducted the ceremony. All of this took place at a Spartanburg Regional Healthcare facility where the team had organized to have a special medical tub for Grindstaff because he wasn’t able to be lowered into a traditional baptismal.
Grindstaff’s son told Alan Jenkins at Discover Health that “He’s always read the Bible, but he had never been baptized. He wanted to show he believed more than anything else.”
You can watch Spartan Regional Healthcare System‘s video of the sweet ceremony below.
Grindstaff passed away on January 13th, 2020; about a month after he was baptized.
