Here I Am, Lord. Send Me.

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” – Isaiah 6:8
There was a teacher in my jr. high school who was so well-loved by all the students that when he would say, “Ok- I need a volunteer!”, all these eager hands shot up. Ooo! Me! Pick me! Myself included.
Mr. Lipsitz was just that kind of teacher. He was fun and creative and if he was doing the asking, you just knew it was gonna be a good thing to be a part of it.
He would laugh at us and say, “What are you doing volunteering? You don’t even know what you’re volunteering for! This could be very dangerous!”
But we knew we wanted the assignment because of who was asking. We trusted him and didn’t need all the details.
How much more do I long for my hand to shoot up when God calls my name? Because I trust Him and I know Him, I want to be in on all He has for me to do. I want to be accessible and available for Him today. It doesn’t matter what the assignment is, because of WHO is asking, I want to say- Here I am. Send me!
