God Doesn’t Operate On A First Come, First Served Basis

“’Sir,’ the invalid replied, ‘I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me.’”
‭‭-John‬ ‭5:7‬ ‭

A lot of life feels like that doesn’t it? It’s a fight for favor and someone is always ahead of me. It’s as if there’s just this little window of opportunity for blessing and it’s first come, first served and so you better hurry or you’ll miss out.

I reject that way of living my life.

God has assigned us our portion. And He doesn’t dispense blessing on a first-come, first-served kind of basis. He can, in an instant, heal you, help you, rescue you, gift you with the desires of your heart and it doesn’t matter who got there first.

You are not in line waiting for an audience with the Lord. You are His beloved and He is with you NOW. You may have to wait for some things, but it’s not because other people got there first. It may be because you’re not ready to receive it and He is doing a deeper work in you than what you’ve asked for, or He’s preparing you for what’s coming or…It may be He has something else for you altogether.

With Jesus, the waters of that healing pool are eternally stirred… and we can jump in any time and stay there forever.
