God Delights In You…Now What?

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” John 13:34
As someone who loves to be productive and check things off my to-do list, I’m guilty of not really prioritizing fun. I mean, work is definitely more important, right? Is fun really something to emphasize?
I’m beginning to think so.
When we talk about having fun, what we mean is appreciating something. Enjoying something. Delighting in something. And when we do that, we imitate God.
God didn’t need to create anything, including us, to be complete. But He chose to, knowing that we would bring Him glory.
In Genesis 1, God made the heavens and the earth. “And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good” (Gen. 1:31). From the very beginning, we see God appreciating His work of creation.
And more than any other created thing, God delights in us.
Zephaniah 3:17 says, “The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.”
God delights in His good creation and rejoices over the people He made.
So, let’s do the same!
Let’s look for opportunities to appreciate creation, enjoy fellowship with others, and give glory to the Creator of it all, knowing that as we do, we’re imitating Him.
Let’s have fun.
