Don’t Miss God’s Little Gifts

God is sometimes just so romantic.
He knows us better than anyone. He sees it all and He knows sometimes it’s the littlest things that can show the depth of love.
To be noticed in the whispers of your soul…The longings and the delights (even the unspoken ones), all somehow heard by the attentive ears of One who is actively looking for ways to show you how personal He is, how interested He is, how committed He is.
I get up at 2:30 am and sit in my sacred little spot to read and pray most mornings. My eyes could use a little more light than the space has and I wanted to get a reading lamp. During the time, I had committed to no spending money, and I randomly found this new reading lamp in a box unopened in my basement.

Never seen it before. I think it was a free gift that came with a purchase of light bulbs. Exactly what I wanted, but something I never asked for.
Romantic isn’t He? And notice how in this Scripture, David goes from calling the Lord his lamp to declaring confidence that God will help him in battle.
“You, Lord, are my lamp; the Lord turns my darkness into light. With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall.”
- David, 2 Samuel 22:29-30
These little romantic things I see God doing for me aren’t trite. These things give me confidence that He knows what I need and He will help me advance in my battles.
What little acts of love from God have you noticed? Join me in praying and asking Him to open our eyes to His gifts!
