Doing Right May Cost You

The right choice should be easy to make, shouldn’t it? Sometimes we know what the right choice is but we’re scared to make it because of what it will cost. But if the choice is between lying to yourself (or others), or speaking up with the truth, the truth is always the best choice.
Lies lead to bondage. You have to be prepared to walk down a steep hill and to keep adding weight to your shoulders. When you arrive at your destination, you will be carrying a load that threatens to crush you.
Truth leads to freedom, but you have to be prepared to walk uphill and lay things down along the way. You’ll arrive with much less than when you started, but you’ll have gained the weightlessness of a full heart and peace of mind.
So if you’re facing a difficult choice, maybe consider the ending…which one leads to freedom?
Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” – John 8:31-32
