Doctor Sings Duet With Patient Awaiting Heart Transplant

August 17, 2020

Dr. Lily Stern at Cedars-Sinai hospital in California went to work on August 5th ready to support her patients. But she didn’t know that meant singing with them!

Sean Tiwanak, a musician from Hawaii and one of Dr. Stern’s patients, was awaiting a heart transplant that day, and feeling anxious. So, he took out his ukulele and started to play.

And a beautiful duet ensued:

Check out Cedars-Sinai's Dr. Lily Stern singing a duet of "Stand By Me" with her patient Sean Tiwanak while he plays the ukulele. Thank you for spreading positivity and joy! ❤️

The music calmed Sean’s nerves, and now, he is recovering from a successful operation and doing very well.

He’s blessed to have had an incredibly supportive doctor there with him through the process.
