Answering The Call To Peace

Let us be reminded of this verse out of Colossians 3:15: “And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.”
Peace is mentioned twice in this verse. One, peace as the ruler, as the landlord of our hearts, the One who calls the shots. We want to do some things. We want to react. We want to say whatever we want to say. Peace says, “No, no. Have a seat, please, sir, ma’am, because I’m the one in charge.”
When peace is in charge, that’s wisdom.
May we let peace rule in our hearts because we can be raging inside. But when peace is there, there is a calm, there is a rest. There is rational thinking.
So, God, that’s what we need more of: Your peace ruling over us so that it goes out into the world, into the people that are around us. Oh, yes, God, we thank you for that. You’ve called us to it, so, we’re answering that call to peace.
Amen.
