A Time To Turn To God: Prayer Points For The Crisis in Ukraine

It’s easy to hear about what’s happening in the Ukraine and feel helpless. However, there is one thing we can all do, and it involves the most powerful tool any of us have: Prayer.
In the Bible we see countless accounts of God hearing the cry of His people and coming to their aid. God heard the groaning of the Israelites in Egypt and rescued them (Exodus 2:23-3:22), and He hears our prayers today just the same.
The Bible is clear. When we cry out, God will act.
“When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.” – Psalm 34:17
Remember, prayers don’t have to be eloquent or perfect. God knows our worries, fears, and desires before we speak. Let’s turn to Him today and cry out on behalf of those in the Ukraine, concerned loved ones, as well as everyone touched by this crisis.
Below are some prayer points to guide you.
Lord, today we cry out to You to do what only You can. We pray for…
- the protection of the people of Ukraine. Please watch over and guard them with Your peace, provision, and endurance.
- the oppressor’s plans to be compromised and frustrated. We ask that the plans for evil will fail, for unexpected complications, and for the miraculous to assist in what is righteous.
- for world leaders who are making consequential decisions. May Your wisdom, courage, and Godly counsel be their guide.
- for those in the military. We pray that You protect them, comfort their families, and give victory to those standing for what You value.
- for courage and supernatural safety for Christians and Christian workers. Lord, bring revival and glory to Your name in the midst of persecution.
- and finally, we ask You, Almighty Father, Prince of peace, to bring peace in the Ukraine and the world. May conflict end, may violence cease, and may hearts be turned to You and find salvation.
1 God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
3 though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.
4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy place where the Most High dwells.
5 God is within her, she will not fall;
God will help her at break of day.
6 Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
He lifts His voice, the earth melts.
7 The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
8 Come and see what the Lord has done,
the desolations he has brought on the earth.
9 He makes wars cease
to the ends of the earth.
He breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
he burns the shields with fire.
10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”
11 The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
