Event Details:

February 28, 2021
Time:
11:00 am - 12:30 pm

The Rev. Moses C. Clayton, an ex-slave and lay minister, founded the First Baptist Church in 1836. First Baptist Church is the FIRST Black Baptist Church in the state of Maryland.  The current church building, a registered historical landmark (built in 1880), sits in East Baltimore on the corner of Caroline & McElderry Streets. This edifice has served as a beacon of light to the community and a place of refuge for those who seek and love the Lord.

During our Zoom Virtual Celebration on Sunday, February 28, 2021 at 11:00 a.m., First Baptist members and guests will praise God and celebrate how His love has sustained this church for 185 years from generation to generation, through the lean years and the fruitful years.  Bishop Walter Scott Thomas, Sr., Senior Pastor of the New Psalmist Baptist Church will bring forth the Word of Celebration.
